Tips on Landscaping Your Gardens
Gardens are important parts of a house. The garden the first thing a person is going to notice about your place. Whether they are just passing by or actually visiting, gardens are going to give them a warm feeling about your home.
Gardens have to be well kept. If you have good landscaping, it would be apparent to neighbors that you love your home so much you are spending time and money beautifying it. Gardens are expressions of nature and it gives the feeling of warmth and comfort.
There are different styles in landscaping. Some are so complex a professional should do it, and some are simple enough a homeowner who likes gardening can manage the job. The first thing that has to be done is to make a design of the garden. Project where flower beds will be and how large they will go. Try to picture it out on your mind or better yet, draw it. Flower beds should be more or less four inches wide. Be careful not to make it too small.
When you already have the layout, then you can start working on the garden. For starters, raise the flower beds. These should be at least ten inches high, using high quality top soil. This is necessary for the plants and flowers to grow nicely. Lower beds on an inferior top soil would just put your garden in bad shape in the long run. Go ahead and invest on a rich soil.
Once the beds are installed, in comes the real gardening job. You are now ready to plant. Just like top soil, you are to select the nicest plants to grow. Try to imagine where the low plants would look best at and where the high ones will be. Decide how many different plants you would like to cultivate and how many colors you’d like to see. Use that green thumb and start planting.
Buy some good fertilizers and be sure to know how these should be applied. Several formulations have different purposes, so better be wary of these. Get the ones that are going to be of most help to your garden. As much as possible, do not fertilize the plants while you are planting them, as excessive nitrogen may destroy the plant if not used the right way.
Remember, an attractive garden will give your house a convivial air. Just the same, an unkempt garden will say as much about the homeowners. Landscapes are a big responsibility. Do it only if you have the time and energy for it.
